It’s that wonderful time of year again…I love Christmas, when time for me literally slows down. I don’t look at a clock, instead the pace of December 25th is marked by the chatter and laughter of friends and family, and that wonderful smell of turkey cooking away….
A treasure for the eyes…my mom’s famous dark Christmas cake with its marzipan base covered in butter icing with a bit of holly in the corner for decor; the tree, not with old family decorations, but with carefully placed bobbles of various colors. And those lights! The multi colored ones that bring back memories of childhood, and the excitement of opening stockings and presents.
Of course guests called to the table…there is always that moment. That wonderful feeling that happens when you realize that what once seemed like a large gathering feels somewhat smaller…..and all because we’ve drawn in closer to each other…through conversation and shared stories. And the Christmas crackers from Ogilvy’s or some other wonderful store… and those silly jokes and hats…we all wear them.
Please accept my best wishes for a happy holiday season, and a very Merry Christmas to you, your family, and friends…and all the best for 2014…whatever your hopes, plans and dreams may they come true for you this coming year…
